BUYING
A PUPPY.
When you start thinking about buying a puppy always think hard,
do I want a large, medium, or a small dog, do I really want a dog
that will be around for 10 to 15 years or more because this is the
life span of a Samoyed .
These are some of the things that you should consider before you
make your mind up.
Most important of all is the garden dog proof, better still is it
Samoyed proof ( they have been known to clear 6 foot high walls )
this not only to keep your dogs in but also to keep others out.
Sammie puppies look like little white seals very nice, very
cuddly, very cute, people just do not realise these lovable cute
little puppies grow up just like children and like children they
need to learn the rules of the home they live in, you do not want a
dog running through the home at top speed, you are the ones that
must do the training..
You do need to spend time with them taking them for walks and
training them. They are very highly trainable, they need grooming as
a regular feature or their coat gets matted.Puppies have very sharp
teeth and they like to use them, normally on the furniture shoes
slippers or anything that takes their fancy.
This is a breed that gets bored very quickly, will there be
someone there to play with it during the day, remember how you train
the puppy is how the ADULT version will be.
Are you as a family very house proud, would you have the time and
patience to keep cleaning up after the dog, REMEMBER the dog cannot
help shedding its coat, it is mother natures fault, you will during
this time have hairs all over the home in your food and drinks, and
even in your beds.
Do you know what sort of plants / flowers / shrubs is poisonous
to your dog?Unless they are taught from an early age most Samoyeds
tend to bark, can you and your neighbours put up with the high
pitched bark that most Samoyeds have.
Some male dogs do tend to howl when they smell a nearby bitch in
season there is nothing you can do about this it is mother nature.
Owning a dog of any sort is a big responsibility, listed below
are some things you should know.
YOUR LEGAL RESPONSIBILITIES.
You must take every "reasonable" care to ensure that
your dogs do not cause a STATUTORY NUISANCE
due to excessive barking.
All dogs should wear a collar with the owners name, address, and
phone number on it.
If your dog escapes, and runs onto the road and causes a traffic
accident, you are legally responsible.
Local Bye Laws, sets the fines for dog fouling please ensure that
if your dog fouls anywhere then you should clean it up. Cleaning up
after a dog soon becomes second nature.
At all times follow the country code and DO NOT let your dogs run
free while their is livestock in the fields around you, especially
during the lambing season.
